I grew up in Northern Germany where I picked up multiple facets of German culture including an unhealthy drive for perfection. I pursued a BA Industrial Design and also an MSc Marketing Management from Loughborough University, UK and Business School respectively. Today I run shakes bkk a small boutique Creative Studio. I believe that function should define the product form and that new thinking and the need for improvement must be at the forefront of good designing. I also believe that Designers with all their talent and brute energy must work closely with engineers to achieve the best possible outcome.

CVision MBAS 1 Automated Immigration Terminal by Shakes MBAS 1 was designed to defy the nature of security products and minimize intimidation and fear for both technological and psychological aspects. The design appears friendly with clean lines that seamlessly blend from scanner to screen. Voice and visuals on the screen guide first time users step by step through the immigration process. The finger print scanning pad can be detached for easy maintenance or swift replacement. MBAS 1 is a unique product that aims to change the way we cross borders, allowing for multiple language interaction and a friendly non-discriminating user experience.

Herbaliste Royal Thai Silk Dental Floss Packaging by Shakes Originally the project started with an ordinary dental floss plastic packaging design when the team realized how much waste this segment created and started to rethink their approach. The idea was to create an eco-friendly packaging that could be reused by refilling the filament. Yet, this only made sense if people were able and willing to keep the box for a longer period of time. The aim was to design a Zippo-like experience, a Design that worked well, looked great and could go everywhere, turning an environment-friendly idea into a loved accessory.

Spyker Trivet by Shakes Spyker is a practical and beautiful trivet inspired by propeller designs of vintage airplanes. The Spyker trivet combines classic lines with contemporary materials. The stainless steel ring adds a subtle touch of class to the discreet design and comfortably fits into both modern and traditional homes. The functional design features a fingertip duct which allows the user to quickly open the trivet even while wearing oven gloves. When not in use this trivet loves resting in any kitchen drawer, standing up in a jar or hang suspended from a kitchen hook.
