Raquel Cozar Llado

After studying Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, I went to New York City to study Fashion Design, participating in several courses that interested me in the prestigious schools FIT and Parsons School of Design. I also studied pattern making with the method of Paris College of Fashion (ESMOD). After, I started making made to measure clothes and custom design under my label Rak Elita. But I wanted to continue learning and enrolled in the recently opened IED Madrid in 1999. I also spent one semester at the IED Milan and graduated in 2001 with a thesis on the Fauvism. This collection was a great success that appeared in Vogue Spain as “the future of fashion in Spain”.

After graduation, I worked for two great designers of the panorama of Spanish fashion: Roberto Torretta and Davidelfín, and between the two, I managed to create and produce 2 collections continuing over the Fauvist inspiration as well as some collaboration with designers and artists.

From 2004 I start working on my own, making bags and costumes for artistic productions and educational projects as a freelance for entities such as El Corte Inglés and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. In 2006 I decided to leave Madrid and go for a quieter life with my children of 2 and 6 years old. Working in the Business Entity AENA and parallel’s doing my collections of handbags until early 2011, when arises the opportunity to work in New Delhi as Professor of Fashion Design at the University Raffles Millennium International. After two wonderful years there, I went back to Spain in 2013 with a new vision of more ethical fashion and crafts, valuing the different cultures of the world, manual labor and sustainable fashion. In 2014 I return to learn. This time I do an advanced course on handbag design with leather, organized by Loewe Foundation and Juan Carlos Santos in Ubrique, Cádiz.

And this is where my new stage begins with the world of leather handbags.

Currently I divide my time between my work at the Francisco de Vitoria University in Madrid, and the creative direction and management of COZARLLADO.
