Massimo Mercurio was born in the Eternal City of Rome, Italy, surrounded by renowned art and architecture known to all. Raised by an architect father— who founded Mercurio Design Lab together with Massimo— and seeing soul-stirring art, grand fountains, and centuries-old palaces in daily occurrence for two decades, these experiences shaped his interest in the world of design.

Mercurio Design Lab, an Italian avant-garde design studio that caters to real estate and lifestyle markets, was born from Massimo's vision of exporting the beautiful lines of contemporary Italian design to the world. Under the leadership of Massimo, the studio has achieved a record of more than 60 international award wins in the architecture and design fields. With roots still firmly planted in Italy, the firm has become a global company with offices in the Asia Pacific region.

A monograph featuring everything Mercurio Design Lab has accomplished in its decade of existence was released and launched in 2019. The book, published by Images Publishing Group, one of the most prestigious international publishers of Architecture and Design titles, features the projects that won awards in the architecture and design competitions. A forthcoming second book is in line, to be printed by l’Arca, devoted to the world of modern-day design and a leading publisher of books about architecture and design in Italy. It would present the kinds and extent of projects the studio is currently undertaking, which are generally more outstanding and have larger scales than those issued in the first book.

Moreover, Massimo also penetrated the art industry through Metakaos, a company he established that offers a comprehensive solution to art, design, and construction requirements and offers services from art trading to art curation and artistic styling of space to creating customized collections and sculptures.

Dusit Thani Laguna Golf Resort Hotel by Mercurio Design Lab S.r.l. Dusit Thani Laguna is a golf resort hotel in Singapore, located within the grounds of the Laguna National Golf and Country Club. The development joins a renovated three-storey clubhouse and a new six-storey hotel under one continuous roof. The curved roof is made of special cementitious fibre boards and a marine grade membrane, forming a seamless surface with no visible joints. A shared glazed facade opens wide views towards the golf course. The building form is inspired by the undulating green landscape of the course. The project was completed in December 2020.

Doji Tower Interior Commercial and Office by Mercurio Design Lab S.r.l. Doji Tower is the interior design of a sixteen-storey mixed-use building in Hanoi, Vietnam. The interior covers 18,204 square metres and includes retail floors, corporate offices, leased offices and a restaurant on the topmost level. The design language fuses classical and contemporary elements, resulting in an art deco character. Marble, gold leaf, coffered ceilings, Italian mosaic and European crystals are combined with open spaces, large rounded windows and curved walls. The intent is a timeless interior that reflects the beauty of gold and gems.

Villas Alba Residential by Mercurio Design Lab S.r.l. Villas Alba is a pair of twin villas located on the island of Sentosa in Singapore, facing the sea and an adjacent golf course. The name Alba means sunrise in Italian, and the semi-circular form recalls the sun rising on the horizon. A terracotta roof in red and orange hues and a travertine facade give the villas warm tones. Inside, the color palette follows a gradation of sunrise tones. Extensive glazing and a timber pool deck link the living and dining space to the landscape. An attic sitting room overlooks an elevated courtyard.

Villa Mistral Residential by Mercurio Design Lab S.r.l. Villa Mistral is a four level house located in Sentosa Cove, Singapore. The design avoids a plain box form by referring to the shape of a boat. Angular outward leaning structural elements and similarly angled glazed walls recall the experience inside and outside a vessel moving through the sea. Timber and concrete combine in a facade with windows of varying scales. The interiors follow a seaside theme that reflects the waterfront lifestyle of the area. Building design, interior architecture, decoration, furnishings and artworks are fully integrated.
