David ChangDavid Chang, Taiwanese-born Canadian Designer, founder of David Chang Design Associates (DCDA), registered professional members of NCIDQ, IDC, IIDA, ASID, SBID. He has over 20 years of experience in hospitality and residential interior design and management in Canada and China. David was educated both in the United States and Canada. Majored and received bachelor degree of interior design at both California state university long beach and Kwantlen polytechnic university in Vancouver British Columbia, and studied "Green Building and Community Sustainability Professional Certificate" at Harvard University. Deeply influenced by eastern and western culture, David emphasizes on attention to culture and history as source of inspiration thereby creating vitality and rich artistic essence for each project. Moreover, David's insistence of functionality creates soul in design, emphasize on the comfort of Interior space. Base on these philosophy, David's innovative works have won numerous design awards from Canadian designer associations and had been awarded each numerous recognition of accomplishments in Canada and has recently been awarded with international design and architecture awards in 2015 in the Global Residential Interior Design category by Design et al in London as well as the best residential project international design award in 2016 by Society of British Interior Design (SBID). In 1998, David established David Chang Design Studio which later in 2006 converted to David Chang Design Associates International (DCDA) in Vancouver, Canada, and set up offices in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Beijing in 2006 to provide exclusive upscale design services for top real estate developers and builders in China, and mainly focused on cities landmark projects. Eminence Mansion Residential Show Home by David Chang Design Associates Intl This project has 3.3 meters height ceiling throughout, giving the residence a continuing elevated space of majesty and comfort. The ceiling has been deftly crafted to hold a hand made crystal chandelier, which hangs above the circular marble and wood inlaid coffee table in the living room. A similar chandelier with matching crystals resides above the dining table, establishing continuity from space to space. Sensuously rich materials have been combined for flooring patterns celebrating historical magnificence. A subtle and soft color palette was introduced to living room and dining room. Chinoiserie Villa S3 Residential Show Home by David Chang Design Associates Intl This project uses simple neoclassical framework to build a space that merges Chinoiserie and Western Classic together. Some Chinoiserie elements are used such as the Huizhou architectural archway that connects the main hallway and living room. Texture rich travertine stone, with its calming and elegant color is used throughout the majority of the public area. Runze Palace Residential Show Home by David Chang Design Associates Intl The show home introduces the space concept of the Empire style with vertical wall panelling and jamb details, profiling a spacious architectural structure, displaying the Empire power and glory. The overall design borrows eighteenth century luxury living style as a backdrop, where the oriental culture begins its influence in the western world. Many exquisite oriental decorative arts and interior architectural elements are integrated into the design such as traditional arts and craft called Beijing Cao style Kite, Tibetan Buddhism embroidery, and the golden Chinese painting on black lacquered. Poly Garden Center To promote apartment sales by David Chang Design Associates Intl Poly Garden Presentation Center is situated in Zhaoqing at the west Pearl River Delta, 110 km northwest of Guangzhou. This is where the old and the new coalesce to create a new urbanized metropolitan city. The design was inspired by local culture derived from the Song Dynasty mixed with Corinthian classic architectural elements embedded into the noble background of the Pearl River. This facility was created as the presentation and sales center for the Poly Garden Residential High-rise project and is capable of accommodating hundreds of prospective purchasers. Grand Influx Center To promote apartment sales by David Chang Design Associates Intl Balanced symmetry, bold clean architecture and cultural referencing are fused together in this 1460 square meters Presentation Sales Centre to captivate prospective purchasers. Artful contemporary duplications of iconic Ming Dynasty furniture, motifs and patterns are selectively distributed throughout the project, helping to establish “sense of place” geographically and historically. Cafe FLO Taikooli Restaurant by David Chang Design Associates Intl Cafe Flo is located in Taikooli at Sanlitun District of Beijing and the mall itself is a must-see destination attraction for visitors, both domestically and internationally. The challenge was to create an inviting dining experience, with respect paid to the building’s existing imposing beams and columns. The color tones of this cafe were inspired by the elegance of bygone Napoleonic era Parisian blue and Brass gold. The overall design was base on the iconic French Art Deco style brasserie. The chandelier, with its honeycomb structure, can be traced back as a symbolic icon to Art Deco period. Crystal Pavilion Facility for residents by David Chang Design Associates Intl Designated to serve the discerning Residents and their guests at the Crystal Pavilion Complex, the 4437 square meters Crystal Pavilion Clubhouse offers a sophisticated and cultured private club member experience. The client’s requirement to create an interior with a grand classical style but rooted in the cultural references of the ancient city of Hangzhou were realized by using the rare and venerable Ru Porcelain from the Song Dynasty as the ennobling inspiration. Grasse Town S2 Show Villa by David Chang Design Associates Intl The design concept is derived from country estate villas of the 18th century France complete with Corinthian capital, baseboard, and crown moulding. The soft colour palette from ivory to pastel was used in the entire villa to create an inviting and relaxing living environment while possessing a sense of luxury. Together with the French classical floral relief motif on the ceiling, Boiserie wall panels and Trompe-l’œil scenes that are displayed throughout the Interior space, these elegant interiors speak to the discerning buyers of this exclusive development. F Bistronome Restaurant by David Chang Design Associates Intl As the night falls F Bistronome can be seen as a transparent jewel box elevated above the Central Business District in Beijing. Taking its place amongst the most glamorous of Beijing’s many fine dining spots, this restaurant pays homage to the Art Deco movement with its dynamic copper trusses, jewel dripped chandeliers and channel tufted seating. The illustrious centre was inspired by the Empire style with its palatial spaces, domed ceilings and stately marble colonnades. Neoclassic motifs materialize in the details of the grand ceiling glass dome, window designs, railings and screens.
