Christos PavlouChristos Pavlou Architecture studio listens, searches, learns, designs. They are aware of and sensible to the environment, the land parameters, the specific site views, the climate conditions and the needs of their customers. Their projects are distinguished by their formal simplicity, the integration of inside-outside, the contrasting realities and the in-between zones. Studio's architecture is driven by the need of solving a complex program in a simple and clear manner. The language is based on define, simple forms aiming to express the collective memory of a specific culture. Having said that forms do not always provide ready-made solutions but they are rediscovered during the design process. It is a stage by stage approach which allows the build up of different special relationships and smooth transitions between spaces. Energy efficiency, automation technology, sustainability and ecological designs are part of their working procedure. The office has been awarded with the state architecture award 2019 by the president of Cyprus in the category of outstanding architecture.
The studio's motto ''We need to recognise the importance of the psychological interactions of an individual with a particular place or object. The place needs to be perceived not only on a physical level but on a memory level also. When landscape becomes concept there are no boundaries between inside and outside. We continuously live in the in-between realm of space and time. '' The Linear House by Christos Pavlou The project was inspired by the idea of Mediterranean scenery admiration towards olive grove, vineyards, blue sky and breezy south to west orientation. To maximise unobstructed views for all rooms a linear typology was adopted,a simple silhouette thus establishing strong relationships between people and nature. A sliding sun blocking aluminium screen controls and protects the interior from direct sunlight. Double height living space with glazed bridges is the focal area of the house connecting all rooms and providing views in and out. The long design surrenders to nature and follows the land. Garden House by Christos Pavlou The proposal highlights nature's beauty in our urban lives, as a result, it creates a new standard of lifestyle in the city as well as introducing a breath of tranquillity into the neighborhood. The internal courtyard becomes an intermediate space functioning both as an important temperature regulator but also as a means of communicating and unifying the interior spaces. Inspired by the environmental effects that cities have on CO2 emissions and global warming, the designers tried to emphasize that the implementation of urban gardens into the home design is welcoming and achievable. Courtyards House by Christos Pavlou This two-story house offers a distinctive blend of traditional Cypriot home design and contemporary elements, incorporating three large green courtyards to create smooth transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. Experiencing the magic of living close to nature, with private gardens, green atriums, all while enjoying the comforts of modern design and the magic of the evolution of life. The boundaries blur by bringing greenery indoors through the atriums, making the courtyard a way of life allowing users to enjoy the magic of life’s seasonal transformations. |
