Wenkai Xue, the director of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Industrial Design in LAFA, a member of the China Artists Association, employed as a professor, vice-president and postgraduate tutor in The School of Industrial Design in LuXun Academy of Fine Arts, who has published a plenty of design works, papers, treatise, achievements and projects, now is working in the industrial design teaching research and design practice.

Re-leaf Tree Pool by Wenkai Xue Re-Leaf is an ecological tree pool designed for streets and public spaces. Fallen leaves are gathered inside the semi-enclosed basin, where rain and snow compact them until they decompose. The rotted leaves act as a natural fertilizer that increases soil nutrients and supports tree growth. The semi-closed form also reduces water runoff and helps protect soil moisture. Re-Leaf is made of cast iron and consists of four identical parts, which are joined before installation around a tree. The tree pool measures 1300 by 1300 by 250 millimetres.

Convenience Temporary lavatory by Wenkai Xue Convenience is a temporary lavatory designed for public spaces without permanent toilets. The unit is placed over a sewer access point, so urine is discharged directly into the sewage well and is not stored. The manhole cover is removed and set into a groove between the two urinals, where it holds the unit steady and is not lost. The shaped form allows rain to clean the surfaces. Convenience is made by plastic injection molding and is light enough to be moved by municipal workers. The dimensions are width 1300 mm, depth 1400 mm and height 2000 mm.

Bamboo Joint Screwdriver by Wenkai Xue Plus+ is a modular screwdriver designed for compact storage and quick tool selection. Each section carries a different tool bit. Sections can be added or removed to change the total length, so Plus+ adapts to different working spaces and stays easy to carry. The tool holder lets bits be inserted and removed quickly, and the grip is comfortable to hold. A clear symbol on each bit makes the correct head simple to recognize. The body is shaped by rubber injection molding. The modular units reduce storage space and resource waste.

Free and Easy Easel by Wenkai Xue Free and Easy is an easel designed for small studios, art classrooms and outdoor sketching. Common triangular easels take up space during storage and transport and block the view between artists and teachers. Free and Easy has a flat and compact shape when folded, which saves space and reduces transport costs. The frame is made of wood and nylon engineering plastic, with metal fasteners and magnets. Two plastic wheels adjust the height of the drawing board. A combined box cover and palette keeps painting tools within easy reach.

Hero Fire Truck by Wenkai Xue Hero is a fire truck designed for high-rise and complex fire scenes. An integrated interactive panel on the side of the vehicle holds a tablet screen. Firefighters can set preset data such as foam ratio and water discharge for direct use on site. Several drones carry fire extinguishing bombs and support the crew. Infrared thermal imaging detects the fire situation and sends the information back to the screen. The doors and the body use thickened steel plates and embedded metal protective nets for protection. The aim is a shift from traditional to intelligent fire protection.

Fenced Traveler Pet Outing Bag by Wenkai Xue Fenced Traveler is a pet outing bag designed for small pets such as rodents. The bag carries a small pet outdoors and then opens into an enclosed play area. After the bag is placed on the ground, a built-in structure forms a closed outdoor space, and the pet can be released inside it. The design reduces the need for a traction rope, which can injure small pets and limit their movement. Fenced Traveler is made of plastic and cloth, shaped with a knapsack cloth forming technique. The aim is to protect small pets outdoors and to give owners more freedom during shared outdoor activities.

Luf Seedling Trays by Wenkai Xue Luf is a seedling tray made from loofah fiber. Luf replaces plastic trays with a biodegradable material formed from crushed loofah, a bio-based adhesive and a curing agent, which are heated and pressed in a mould. The trays stack together, so one person can carry more than five trays at a time. Each tray is divided into three independent parts and can be cut along marked lines. After the seedlings mature, the tray is planted into the soil, where it breaks down into nutrients. Loofah seeds can be collected and used for further cultivation.

Mila 3D Printed Vase by Wenkai Xue Mila is a series of hydroponic vases for indoor plants. The collection includes three sizes, small, medium and large, to suit different planting needs. The shapes are drawn from the chimneys on the roof of Casa Mila, with twisting lines and surface textures refined into a rhythmic form. Each vase is made of VeroClear translucent material and is produced directly with PolyJet 3D printing, without additional processes. A one-piece double-layer structure lets the outer wall and the inner tank overlap, giving the translucent surface a hazy and layered appearance.

Photosynthetic City Biomass Power System by Wenkai Xue Photosynthetic City is a combined solar and biomass energy system designed for existing city buildings. Solar panels on steel frames are mounted on the roof, while planting modules made of recycled injection molded plastic cover the building surface. The planting modules have small holes that guide excess rainwater downward, so every plant receives water and nutrients. Plant waste is collected and burned in a combined heat and power steam turbine to produce electricity. The plants also store carbon, clean the air and reduce noise, lowering the demand for traditional energy.

Tubedex Bus Station by Wenkai Xue Tubedex is a bus stop designed for post-industrial cities. The form is inspired by industrial pipes and is expressed through deconstructed circular tube elements. Brushed stainless steel is the main material, joined by cast connectors and screws. Solar panels above the roof supply energy, while LED lights behind frosted glass illuminate the waiting area. An interactive screen in bold red shows real-time information such as time, weather and the expected bus load rate. The aim is to make bus service information clearer and easier to read.

Triangledex Bus Stop by Wenkai Xue Triangledex is a bus stop designed for post-industrial cities. The form is based on deconstructivist aesthetics, and the stable triangle is reshaped through nonlinear modeling. Frosted stainless steel forms the main structure, while transparent solar panels above the ceiling supply energy without reducing light. The interactive interface uses a main screen for route and platform information and a second screen for time, weather and expected full load rate. The blue interface tone keeps the displayed data clear and easy to read.
