James Poss is an independent designer currently living in Denver, CO. James won a 2020 A'Design Award for his Cornice clothing storage & display concept. In addition to furniture, James designs luggage and bags for Switch Designs, LLC, which he founded to bring innovation and style to bags for the outdoors. James holds a design patent for a ski boot bag with a unique, transformational design, that was named the #1 ski pack of 2018 by Freeskier Magazine.
Cornice Dresser by James Poss
Cornice is a dresser designed for clothing storage and display. Cornice holds folded garments such as t-shirts and sweaters. Traditional dressers hide clothes inside drawers, while the open shelves of Cornice allow favorite pieces to be shown as well as stored. The sculptural open frame keeps the appearance light. Numerous slim shelves encourage single-layer organization and discourage messy stacking that can damage garments. The model shown is a scale version made of wood, and the final piece would be built from welded aluminum. Cornice suits both homes and retail stores.
