Eduardo Dulla

I was a Teenager when I started my interest in photography through a book given as a gift by a dear cousin. Then a Brazilian TV show of the time, with the theme song "Pela lente do amor" by Gilberto Gil, consolidated my passion. I took some basic photography classes but photography college only existed in Europe and the USA at that time and it had a high cost. Another possibility would be to be a photographer’s assistant, then a few years later I became Willy Biondani assistant, photographer that I admired a lot. I understood that it was the beginning of a dream come true, then I gave up my studies to dedicate myself completely to work. This choice had its price but at 18 seemed like the right choice to make. A great opportunity after all!
In the following years I had the opportunity to assist other photographers very admired by me too, specially Klaus Mitteldorf, a few years later he allowed me to start shooting in his own studio.
That was when my career in commercial photography began. Thirty years have passed, photographing mainly still life and food photo for advertising agencies, direct clients and many magazines in different areas. I participated in some works awarded by the Society for News Design, by the NYC Advertising Association and by the Abril Journalism Award in São Paulo.
Parallel to commercial work, I have been developing my personal work, using analogue and also digital photography, sometimes both together, in these personal works I try to present my feelings and visions, telling through images the stories that life has shown or at least how I felt them. I present these photos in a very openly, I feeling exposed but that discomfort almost disappears when I notice someone touched by them.
Photo Series by Eduardo Dulla Costa

Pass On Photo Series by Eduardo Dulla Costa The old story of a message in a bottle is once again presented in this photographic series. The photographer uses words as symbols, in an aesthetic that simultaneously applies image and text, to awaken people and call them to this troubled, polluted and unfair world. This seems to be the demand for these images. Hope, fraternity, faith, are some of the words chosen, Eduardo Dulla believes that this planet can be a better place and uses his work to share this message.
