Juan Ospina is an award winning industrial designer from Colombia. He stands for holistic design, designing as a family and not as an individual when it comes to hunting user insights and products must haves to achieve success. Known publicly as Ospina Umbreit design studio Juan is an independent designer who’s obsessed with users’ first product/experience impressions, since according to him there are no second chances for those visual/symbolic impacts, which rule buying desire aligned on best insights observation. His wife Erika adds to the team as a psychologist, providing hidden treasures on users’ minds and their daughter Michelle puts the final sign on each designed product; making sure they’re childproof during use and not harming products (unless these are made intentionally sharp).

Last Stand Office Gadget by Juan Ospina The last stand is a fancy, 3d printed, dynamic, ergonomic, aesthetically catching product, made by Ospina Umbreit design studio, to give dying pencils a longer life. Almost every human has used a pencil as a way to physically materialize and communicate ideas, language, concepts, etc. However, pencils are not used 100% before they get thrown away. Their ergonomics become really unsuitable to most users after being sharpened many times; they get on average 20% of their product spam thrown away, making pencils not totally optimized. Every pencil user can give their dying pencils a last stand.
