His relentless pursuit of design excellence, commitment to community impact, and unwavering dedication to social responsibility make him a prime candidate for the UAP Global Architect of the Year Award.

William's most remarkable achievement is establishing and growing WTA Design Studio. As the founder and Principal Architect, William has steered WTA into becoming a highly respected firm, garnering numerous local and international accolades. Under his leadership, WTA has showcased a commitment to design excellence and innovation, which has been recognized by BCI as one of the Top 10 Philippines since 2015 and as 88th in the World Architecture Top 100 firms by Building Design. William has fostered a positive and inclusive company culture at WTA, emphasizing collaboration, respect, and professional development among its 120 employees. At WTA, he has created opportunities for professional growth and development by investing in further education, international competitions, conferences, and workshops for its employees, several of whom have been employed at WTA for over 10 years.

Beyond architecture, William has made significant strides in real estate development through Artesan Prime, a company he established in 2010. The company has five large-scale projects totaling 350,000 square meters in floor area. Riverpark Manila, at 65 storeys, is set to become the City of Manila’s tallest building.

William's commitment to improving the architectural profession and the community is evident through his philanthropic endeavors. He founded the Anthology Architecture and Design Festival in 2016 and has since hosted 6 editions. It is the country’s largest gathering of thought leaders in the built environment. Anthology brings together over 7,000 architects, developers, and politicians, engineers to celebrate architecture over a 3-day festival. Speakers and attendees have included Sou Fujimoto, Ole Schereen, Ricardo Boffil, President Bong Bong Marcos, President/Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Hans Sy, and several ambassadors. Since 2018, UAP has been an official partner, delivering CPD-accredited seminars, events, and lectures.

At the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, hospitals throughout Metro Manila were crippled beyond capacity. To augment our healthcare system, William self-initiated and spearheaded the construction of 75 Emergency Quarantine Facilities (EQF) throughout the Philippines, housing 1,500 beds in multiple locations. In partnership with UAP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other organizations, William designed and solicited donations for construction materials to deploy and construct the EQFs. These EQFs were donated to beneficiary hospitals and LGUs utterly free of charge. The EQF plans were open-source, resulting in 3,000 more beds built by independent organizations nationwide and another 3,000 by the government of Singapore. For this, William received multiple awards from several organizations, locally and internationally.

William's leadership extends beyond his professional achievements. As a respected figure in the architecture industry, he has served as a judge for prestigious international competitions and has been invited to speak at renowned conferences worldwide. He judged the World Architecture Festival in Lisbon and Singapore and Asia’s Young Designer Award in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Among several others, William spoke at the 2022 UIA World Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark, the 2020 Singapore Archifest, and the 2017 Third China-Asean Architectural Arts Summit Forum in Nanning, China.

William’s commitment to education is evidenced by his teaching engagements at esteemed universities, including University of Sto. Tomas, University of the Philippines and Taylor’s University in Malaysia where he has shared his advocacy for "social architecture". He places an emphasis on community engagement, highlighting his profound understanding of architecture's social impact. He demonstrates how architecture can catalyze positive change through initiatives like the Book Stop Project, promoting literacy and community interaction.
He is the author of two published books: “Human Scale” (2015) and “Context and Intent” (2017), both of which have sold over 6,000 copies. Since 202, William has writen about architecture and the built environment in his weekly column “The City of Tomorrow” for the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
For his contributions to the profession, William was recently awarded by the Philippine Regulatory Commission as the 2023 Outstanding Professional of the Year for Architecture. He was invited as Guest of Honor in the January 2024 Architecture Licensure Exam oath-taking ceremony. In 2022 and 2023, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts awarded him the “Ani ng Dangal” Award, acknowledging artists who have attained the highest international awards and accolades in architecture.

Despite his remarkable accomplishments, William remains grounded and committed to his roots. His humble beginnings in Tondo, Manila, serve as a testament to his perseverance and resilience. His dedication to family underscores his values of compassion and integrity. His outstanding contributions to the profession, community development, and social responsibility exemplify what the UAP stands for and set him apart as a beacon of inspiration for architects and society.

A stadium that would extend the adjacent park and connect with the university. The southern end of the stadium incorporates a sloping lawn where people could walk up or have picnics and leads to an amphitheater with a magnificent backdrop. This expression of social architecture creates a barrier free stadium that is accessible to everyone. This is both a stadium and a park, a space that does not discriminate. It is social infrastructure that helps bond the community. It is a stadium for the people.
