Jia-Sheng Chen, Johnny, is a Los Angeles-based industrial / product designer. Trained as an industrial and graphic designer, Johnny is recognized for his innovative design skills and cross-disciplinary practices in design, art, and technology. Born in Taiwan and growing up in a rural area, he fosters his unique insight toward design.
He received an MDes in Designed Objects from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2022), research experience in Industrial design from Taiwan Tech (2018), and a BFA in Product Design from Ming Chuan University (2017).
He is the founder of Forenext Design Studio and has been helping companies create new products and experiences across digital and physical platforms and received multiple design awards, including A'Design Award (2025) LIT Light Design Awards (2022), ICFF/WANTED DESIGN exhibition (2022), iF Design Award (2021), SAIC Incentive Scholarship (2022), Red Dot Design Concept Award (2017), Golden Pin Design Award(2017), etc.

Syn Universal Calendar by Johnny Jiasheng Chen Syn is an innovative calendar/ monthly planner featuring a unique layout for various and universal time intervals. It is designed as a mechanical, three dimensional planner that assists people in organizing tasks and events without using a digital application. Inspired by the philosophy of Lo Tek Design, it optimizes the use of a physical calendar, providing more detailed information. The structure design adapted the pattern of time, making it universal to any month and day. It can assist in tracking and recording events over a comfortable length of time.
